GENERATOR ENGINEER

 

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Competitive DOE + Progression + Company Vehicle + Overtime + On call allowance

 

DQM Ltd is a successful family run business who specialise in the installation, repair, and maintenance of standby power products. Established for over 25 years & located in Fareham, we offer a personal yet highly professional service to all our customers.

 

We are now recruiting for a full time Generator Engineer to join our small but growing team. This is predominantly a field-based role where you will be required to travel to customer sites primarily across the South of England.  In addition to this, you will have the opportunity to become involved with the implementation of the new apprentice scheme for a 2021 intake.

 

You will use your engineering skills to carry out routine servicing & maintenance on generators for both scheduled service work and remedial/repair work. You will resolve any issues whilst on customer sites whilst ensuring all aspects of their standby power systems continue to work.  When you are not on-site, you will assist the team with technical knowledge to source suitable parts/products.

 

Main duties include but are not limited to:

  • Undertake standard servicing and routine maintenance activities on a wide range of standby diesel generators and associated electrical equipment
  • Carry out fault diagnosis in both mechanical and electrical disciplines and rectify any faults found
  • Carry out load bank testing, fuel testing & polishing
  • Conduct site surveys & inspections of generator sets, and associated equipment
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of a wide variety of standby power equipment
  • Install and connect both planned and emergency hire generator sets
  • Promptly complete all job reports with accurate and full details
  • Provide expert recommendations to ensure jobs are completed professionally and on time
  • Provide technical assistance to internal departments and customers as required
  • Provide a report detailing any additional sales opportunities; parts; labour and pricing
  • Be part of the call-out rota in operation for out of hours issues
  • Mentor and assist with on the job training and supervision of apprentices and junior engineers

 

Qualifications & experience

  • Holds a recognised Mechanical/Engineering apprenticeship or level 3 NVQ, BTEC or City & Guilds in plant maintenance, mechanical engineering, or suitably related engineering discipline and/or;
  • Has demonstrable experience in servicing and maintaining diesel generator sets
  • Has electrical knowledge and/or experience with high voltage
  • 18th edition Electrical Installations BS7671 certified
  • Has experience working in a Field Service Engineer role
  • Has experience of working with UPS systems and associated equipment
  • Holds an ECS/CSCS Card

 

A Full UK Driving Licence is essential
